| He was a member of Masons- Fruitvale Lodge No.336 F.& A.M. and a retired member of the United Auto Workers Union #1031. He lied about his age(17) so he could join the Army for World War I. When World War II happened he again tried to join the Military but this time he was too old. He was able to join the Sea-Bee's and went to Guam where he helped build the landing strip. While there, he ran into his son-in-law who was stationed there with the Marines. He died at the age of 61- The funeral was on 7/18/1963 handled by Clarence Cooper Mortuary in Oakland, CA. He was cremated and his Urn is at Mt. View Cemetery in Oakland with wife Alice and daughter Bernice. |
