MAREN SOFIE ANDERSEN
b. May 28, 1866
Vester Saaby, Kirke-Saaby, Kobenhavn, Denmark
d. Sept 1, 1947
San Francisco, CA

Listed as Maren Sofie, Sophie, Sophia on the LDS genealogy page "familysearch.com"
Buried in Ogden, Utah.  I have a family portrait of her with her "very old"
husband, probably another arranged marriage such as was done with her sister
Bolina.  In the portrait she is holding a baby and a young boy is standing next to her.
The boy is her step-son, Hans Jorgensen, Jr. and the baby was her's and her
husband's, Hans Jorgensen, Sr.

The baby's name was Carl Enoch Jorgensen
b. Nov 9, 1890 - Utah
d. July 28, 1891 - Utah

According to a "Historical Sketch" written in her handwriting, she raised her stepson.

Her writings were as follows:

"I, Maren Sophie Anderson Jorgensen was born May 28, 1866 in Vester Saaby,
Roskilde Amt, Denmark.  My father,
Anders Peter Anderson was by trade,
a carpenter.  My mother's maiden name was Johanna Larsen.  I left home when
I was 14 years of age (Nov. 1st, 1875).  I did housework until I emigrated.
I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints the
7th of June 1878 by Elder Bert Jensen and confirmed by the same.
I became a member of the Relief Society in Denmark, Nov. 20th, 1880.
I was also a member of the Young Ladies Mutual Improvement Organization
until I emigrated.  I left Denmark Aug. 18th, 1887 aboard the Wisconsin.
I stayed over in Liverpool 3 days.  I landed in New York about the latter part
of Aug., where we transferred to a smaller ship and finally landed in Norfolk,
Virginia.  I arrived in Ogden September 15th.  I stayed on the train overnight.

The next day I came to Richmond, Cache County, Utah, where my parent's
had made their home.  While residing in Richmond I lost my mother, two brothers
and one sister.  They all died of typhoid fever. Another sister of mine (
Boline)
and I were also sick with the same disease.  I went to the Logan Temple and
took my endowments on the 22nd of May, 1888.  I also did the work for my
mother.  The next day I left Richmond, in June 1888 and came to Ogden where
I worked for about a month.  In July I went to Salt Lake City where I worked
for about a year.  The next year, the first part of August, I came to Ogden.

September 26th the same year, I married Hans Jorgensen in the Logan Temple.
The year after, April 16th I joined the Relief Society of the Lynn Ward and
was put in as a teacher.    My child, Carl Enoch, was born Nov. 9th, 1890,
and was blessed by Ras. Christofferson, Dec. 4th.  My father died the 31st of
March, 1891.  My baby died July 28th the same year.  The first part of Oct.
I commenced the profession of nursing which I have done ever since.

I raised Hans Jorgensen, Jr., my step-son, May 30th 1902" [I am confused,
wondering because his date of birth and his sisters date of birth that maybe
Hans had more than one wife?  She also mentions in the next sentence a
Myrtle Larsen who was 3 years oId)" In 1903 I started to work in the
Salt Lake Temple which I have kept up as much as possible ever since I have
been baptized for 45 years and endowed for the same number.

When the eighth ward was organized I was put  as a Relief Society
Teacher which position I still hold.  The 17th of June 1911 my husband died.
I have a testimony of the gospel which I received before I joined the church.
It is my sincere desire to remain firm and steadfast as long as I live".

There is no date but 1923 would be 45 years after she was baptized in 1878.
It is interesting that she spelled Andersen as Anderson.
