| Born in Missoula, MT he came to CA with his family around 1925. Raised in Oakland, CA. He joined the Air Force during which time he and Virginia Trautner eloped. She was 17, he was 21. They were married on April 19, 1942 in Reno, NV. |

| After he finished his time in the Air Force, he and Virginia returned to Oakland, CA where Jack worked at Independent Iron works where he was a welder. A trade he never forgot. |
