EUGENE HENRY FOSTER
b. Nov 6, 1912 - Nevada City, CA
d. Oct 27, 1998 - Modesto, CA
He married at the age of 19 to his first wife.
She strayed from their marriage and she left their  6 month old
son with him.
He divorced and eventually married Evelyn Marie Camozzi
who loved them both and added a daughter to the family.
They lived in Oakland, CA

He had lived in Modesto the last 25 years of his life.
He worked as a painter for Friden's Construction and was a Mason for 50 years.

The following is written by his daughter :

"My Dad (Gene) was the oldest of three brothers and three sisters.
He was born in Nevada City, CA and went to a one room schoolhouse.

He always loved to laugh and joke.
Even as a boy he played many boyhood pranks  (like moving outhouses).
You could see the mischief look in his eyes,  even as a grown man.
He had such a spark and joy in his  outgoing personality.
He was gentle and kind.

He loved animals.  He said he would never make
it as a hunter because he couldn't kill animals.

He did, however, become a terrific fisherman.
One year at Clear Lake, CA, while on vacation,  the local newspaper
photographed him and ran a story about all the fish he caught!

Every year the first or second dayon vacation at Clear Lake he would take out
the row boat and find the "best fishing hole" and with his seaman's
navigating skills he'd go back to that same spot in the
middle of the lake and catch the limit of cat fish.

My brother and I loved to go along with our Dad
to try to beat his number of fish caught.

Each year we would bring home enough fish to fill the freezer for many meals.

He also loved to garden...vegetables but most of all beautiful flowers.
I remember our yard full of daffodils in  the Spring and Zinnias, Dahlias,
Camellias, Azaleas, Marigolds and more.

He was a craftsman when it came to painting our home or refinishing furniture.

He was awarded a 50 year pin from the Masonic Lodge and was very active
as a Mason for many years.

He also had a deep faith and Love of God and
passed that on to me, his daughter."
